Wholesale inventories unexpectedly fell .2% in January. After falling 1% in December, analysts were expecting a modest increase.

Facet Biotech shares soared 66% after it agreed to be acquired by Abbott Laboratories for $450 million in cash, or $27 per share.

OPEC increased its expectations for oil demand growth this year by 100,000 barrels per day, to nearly 900,000. Crude oil futures for April delivery pushed past $82 per barrel.

Brown-Forman shares edged down after quarterly profits fell to 73 cents per share on increased expenses and lower alcohol sales.

Bank of America will end overdraft fees on debit card purchases and ATM transactions, ahead of Fed's "opt in" regulations, due to take effect in July.
